White Noise 04:47
I took my place by the frozen lake Fell into file and rank The signal will stretch and eventually break I scan the waves to find my voice Hand on the dial poised It's coming straight through but it's all white noise Through all the mystery Out here on the open sea Dividing like and kind You can rummage through a childhood Tangled up in wires and why Would you change it When there's still enough time I sit on the stoop and I watch my breath I hear the numbers coming in Listen as the map paints itself into red Stop and start and interrupt A quarter in a cup It's coming straight through but my mind is made up Through all the mystery Out here on the open sea Dividing like and kind You can rummage through a childhood Tangled up in wires and why Would you change it And make it all mine Running out of time I was on your side now I'm floating on my own

He kept a gun in the passenger seat As he drove through the desert night Retraced his steps for the things that he left When he made the unexpected flight The affliction burned as he returned To where he hoped he would find the light Was he out of his mind? Taken in by the holy men He cut himself into the cloth Fingers point and heads shake Maybe doctors could have staved it off Somewhere between magic and divine He was looking for a little relief He bent and kissed my feet Come back brother come on over Give us some sort of sign Deep into the eyes, a symbol and a sign We bent the corners of the rules But you put on the robes Did it drive you out of your mind? In a small brown cell Secret threats and time to think On heaven and hell What's beyond the olive trees Six years passed and the world grew strange Before he came back to our world He drifted off into strange new thoughts Wandered in the dark alone The monks shrugged off the things he lost He said they were full of lies He drove back into the night The last moments of his life Come on brother, come back over Give us some sort of sign Say you're doing fine, tell us you're alright We watched the rules slide off the pages And you took off the robes Did they drive you out of your mind? Words became a voice, and the voice was unknown An unshakable noise, and it followed you home Skull in a box, couldn't make your sins disappear Nothing to forgive and you do not belong here Did they drive you out of your mind? Were you always out of your mind? Goodbye brother, you crossed on over and gave us all a sign Whatever was inside, was it there the entire time? We search the rules for what we should say As they put on your final robes Did they drive you out of your mind?

Goodbye 04:53
I slept on the side of the road On the long drive home I was not born to fly and sleep in hotels To witness the mystery The passing of history I did my duty and I did it well Scatter mind and body Undecided as a pack of wolves Should they keep the baby? Or feed it to the modern world? Please don’t leave me without saying goodbye Without saying goodbye It was a strange feeling outside Gold dust drifts from the sky Watching every last piece as it runs Through the creek bed of suffering Give us one last memory Like a fish in the angle of the autumn sun Bored up all your sadness In a notebook on the hospital bed The background hum of silence The ashes of our friends
